    Whats Wrong With This Machine?


    My dad and I went to get some soda, (I'm Addicted To Caffeine)

    So my dad turns on this machine and said wtf?

    I may be wrong but I guess that would be the HDD. Its the only major moving part other than the fans.

    Try removing it and replacing it.

    Where can I find this type of hard drive for this Dell Inspiron 2200?

    yes the hard drive is fried...replace with an ssd drive if you can....or get a new laptop 6 years old is old and you may start running into more problems...

    Reboot, tap repeatedly the F2 key to enter BIOS setup, see if the HD is detected.

    Power down, unplug and hold power button to drain residual power. Remove HD, clean the contacts to reinstall. Removing Inspiron 2200 HD should be similar to this video:



    If it starts copy out your data ASAP, then run HD maker's diagnostics/repair full CD scan from their Support Downloads webpage.

    Find a replacement HD, run your Recovery DIsks or an XP OEM install CD for your version using the Product Key on COA sticker.

    I would buy it online and as an added bonus you have lots of choices because you're in the U.S.
