New Feature In The Power Plan.

I am not sure if this showed up after SP1 or IE9 since I pretty installed the at the same time, but towards the bottom it not says Internet Explorer, expand the + button and you get Java Script Timer Frequency.

What made me aware of this is that when I woke up this morning my laptop was shitdown and the battery was at 5%. It should have been sleeping like a baby all night like it usually does. Now I have a laptop that's been up all night and it;s going to be a bitch all day to deal with

    Anyone else notice this?

I am not quite sure what you are talking about? Do you mean a plus button on IE9? The only one I see is the one which changes the zoom level.??

I believe he's referring to the Advanced Power Plan Options. See Step 5(B) in this tutorial. By clicking on the + sign next to the various options (hard disk, power buttons and lid, etc.) you can expand the "tree" to make the changes.

Toughbook: Sorry, we were apparently typing at the same time. I have not installed SP1 yet so I can't tell you if it's universal or just your machine. (It's a hold over from the XP days when service packs needed to be field tested by the masses to discover bugs not apparent during beta testing.)

Java script timer frequency apparently impacts battery life. This is a new feature introduced in ie9 rc that you can set in the power options. Read more here.

There are 2 options- set to max performance or set to max power savings.

But I doubt that this ie9 related power setting has anything to do with your problem.

Thatnks for the clear up and link. Last night was the 1st night, I believe, that I left it unplugged since I had updated to the latest IE9 RC. I have 2 of the 99% exact laptops, so I will see what's up.

Without having read the link yet~ What setting should I keep it on? It is plugged in most of the time in my car dock.

I am noticing that on about 50% of the websites I go to I am having to turn the Active X button off.

If the lappy is plugged in all the time, stick to high performance. Of course how effective this feature is, is anybody's guess right now.

Yep, I keep mine on High Perf, and in my BIOS there is a setting for when you keep your computer plugged in most of the time it only allows a 95% charge and then it trickles. It is designed to prolong your battery life, in which it works pretty darn good. This battery is over 2 years old and I still can get close to 12 hours of use from it. Another wonderful feature of Toughbooks, but another feature that makes these dang things so expensive

By the way, utilizing JavaScript Timer Frequency is also supposed to be able to increase your IE speed.
