Windows 7: Right-click on desktop takes forever

Windows Home Premium 64bit

Hi again Alvin. Again a couple of things.
1. You already have paid for a licence for Windows 7 Home Premium.
If that is still what you want on your system, you DO NOT
need to buy another retail copy!!!
2. Everything you need to restore your laptop to ORIGINAL condition
is contained in the Recovery Partition on your HD. We know
that the hard drive is probably failing but perhaps we can
save that recovery partion to an external HD, then restore that
partition to the new hd and then use this recovery partition
to restore your system to Factory condition.
3. Please see #4 in my previous post and get back to us.

I doubt your retailer would tell you to use counterfeit Win7. He probably is advising you to find a retail installer to reinstall with the Product Key on your machine - look for the COA sticker to see what is licensed on that machine. Then find an installer for that version, or any installer can be unlocked to clean reinstall using the steps I gave you here: re-install windows 7

If you have a license on that machine then you do not have to buy another copy of Win7, either find the installer to clean reinstall your licensed version, or run Recovery from the partition or using Recovery Disks which should have been made when you first got the computer - or can be ordered from manufacturer if not.

Instead of having to repeat these options again, please ask any questions you have so we can move on.

No, I update my drivers either using Windows Updates or manually downloaded them.

The recovery partition ( D: ) was corrupted after I go for several CHKDSKs on C:.
HP also stated that you can only make one set of recovery disks, so maybe I can't make it again.
Do you think going to the HP service center would be of any help?

EDIT: I went to a HP service center and going to get my laptop fixed there. Lucky I still have my warranty until 25th.
They said that it was the motherboard that is failing due to force shutdown. Maybe it was because my area frequently got blackouts. ==a
I'll have to wait at most 2 weeks before I got mine back.

EDIT2: Got my laptop back, all fixed and working like it's new. :) They even changed the Windows to 64bit! Now how do you lock this thread...

Logging in takes FOREVER
I'm noticing my Windows 7 machine is taking a while to login. After I am done entering my password, the "Welcome" message with the spinning circle appears and is there for at least 50 seconds. I haven't timed it but that is an estimant. Anybody know why this would be happening? :(
