    Question

I am currently running windows vista home premium, and i was just wondering this for a while. Even if i made a system restore using windows vista, and upgraded to windows 7 can i possibly revert everything back by using system restore, or if i wanted to do this could i possibly back up everything onto a disk and do it that way?, because i am worried that if i had done an upgrade my settings and files may be erased.

Have a look here How to restore a Windows 7-based computer to a previous Windows installation by using the Windows.old folder

This might interest you as well - Upgrade Install with Windows 7

And if you do decide to upgrade backup your files first.
