Backslash Key

I am using a Logitech US keyboard and mouse and unable to find the backslash key.
One of the keys is marked with this sign but if I press it I get the hash symbol.

Try hitting that backslash key along with the AltGr (or right Alt) key.

Maybe you need to add a U.S. keyboard in Windows:

Control panel > Region and Language > Keyboards...tab > Change Keyboards button:
Click the Add button and scroll down to your current default input language:
Under the Keyboard subheading, click "Show more" and scroll down to "United States" where there are 5 U.S. keyboard styles to choose from. Select one or more different styles and click OK. Then OK your way out of everything. There will now be an icon in the taskbar for toggling the different keyboards.

I would think at least one of the U.S. keyboard selections will allow your backslash to work.

I realise this thread is a little old now, but my enquiry directly relates to this.

I recently purchased a US keyboard in error, and as it was fairly expensive am using it without too many problems set up as if it was a UK keyboard in the Control Panel, and ignoring the fact that certain keys like @ actually type something different to how the key is labelled. However, I cannot type a back slash symbol because where the backslash key is on a UK keyboard is missing on the US keyboard.

Is there some way of overcoming this without changing the whole keyboard configuration to US and having to relearn the new positions for touch typing the @ symbol?!

Simply invoke the ASCII character for the backslash symbol by pressing the regular Alt key and entering 92 on the numeric keypad.

Saves a lot of messing around with keyboard layout.
