I want to make windows photo viewer the default for .gif files

I want to make windows photo viewer the default for .gif files. I can't find it in Sys32. I have Win7 SP1, maybe this changed it, it used to open .gif in the viewer.
    thanks!

    Hello Britton,

You can right click on the GIF file, and use Open with (click on link) to select Windows Photo Viewer to make it the default program to open GIFs.

I want to make windows photo viewer the default for .gif files-open_with.jpg

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Thanks Brink, but the viewer option doesn't appear for me, see snip.
The enlarged pics won't close for me in the forums either without refreshing the page.

Double click on Other Programs & see if it's there

    Britton,

It's there. You would just need to click on the drop down arrow to the far right of Other Programs to see it first. It's boxed in red in my screenshot above.

You're most welcome Britton. I'm glad that we could help. :)

Be sure to also check the "Always use......" box at the bottom if you want it to remain the default program though.

Sometimes Windows Photo Viewer does not show up in the Open With Menu; or the file associations have been screwed up by another program's installation.

It's path when you go browse for it on a 32bit W7 is:

    "C:\Program Files\Windows Photo Viewer\PhotoViewer.dll"

I just thought I would add that as an FYI (because I had do it on one installation).
