    2nd Win7 install, now Vista loading screen after remove

    Hi All,

    Some might remember I posted a few days ago about installing Win7 (64bit) separately on this same comp (different hard drive) to test what drivers worked for the devices I had, in particular the Canon scanner.

    Anyway it worked, and I booted into Win7 64b fine - but I had a few issues getting back into 32-bit one (64bit one became the active boot... even after i used diskpart and bcdedit etc.

    Anyway, I got the 32-bit install to again load as the default (and deleted the 64-bit partition)... BUT, I keep getting the Vista booting screen - i.e. the small green loading bar instead of the elaborate "Starting Windows'. I then put in the Win7 dvd in and went to repair the install (to try & get the Win7 boot screen back), but it wouldnt even find the OS install to repair it.

    So basically, its back to the 32bit win7 install fine - but with the older Vista loading screen. Any ideas? thanks heaps!

    Nope just the normal 19" monitor I've used with the 32-bit Win 7 (1280x1024 res). Weird because before installing 64-bit onto the other HD, the boot screen was the Win7 one as normal.

    Run command prompt as administrator and enter bcdedit /set {current} locale en-US if en-US is not your locale (english) change en-US to your own locale.

    just to give a bit more this, this is the contents of my BCD - anyone recognise something weird in there?:

    Windows Boot Manager
    --------------------
    identified {bootmgr}
    device partition=C:
    path \bootmgr
    description Windows Boot Manager
    locale en-US
    default {current}
    displayorder {current}
    timeout 30

    Windows Boot Loader
    -------------------
    identifier {current}
    device partition=C:
    path \Windows\system32\winload.exe
    description Windows 7 Ultimate
    locale en-US
    recoverysequence {d214e0a5-65e9-11de-b56a-9ffbefcefbe6}
    recoveryenabled Yes
    osdevice partition=C:
    systemroot \Windows
    resumeobject {04e38d75-6553-11de-b532-806e6f6e6963}

    Thanks!
