    administrator?

Even though I am not logged in as administrator, the account that I am logged in as, has admin privs. That said, why do I sometimes still have to run some programs as administrator for them to work right? When I go to install programs, it still asks me if I want to do that, if I was truly admin, shouldn't it not ask me?

    Hello Dukeofurl,

Basically anything that requires access to the entire computer to run elevated (run as administrar), will trigger a UAC prompt to have you allow it first. Even though your account is an administrator account, it is still treated like a standard user account except that the administrator is able to approve UAC prompts.

The information and links in the NOTE box at the top of the tutorial below can give you more detailed information on why for this.

User Account Control - UAC - Change Notification Settings

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Thank you. Interestingly enough, I found another article that I think answers my questions a little better.
