    Win 7 ISO file - Legal to download?

    hi, i just about to test my pc with x64 version of win7 but i don't have the installation disc. after googling on the net, i found some acticle that there's a link to download ISO installation file for various version of windows 7 from some site (digitalrivercontent.net / amazon.com if i'm not mistake). this installation ISO not a crack version and not come with product key. it will required user to provide their own product key during installation and activate it. my intention is to test my pc with x64 version of windows to see any issue and if ok, then will considure to buy the product key later. the question is, is that legal to download that iso file from that site? is there any other site that can provide legal downloading of iso win 7 file?

    Downloading it per se is not illegal, however if you do not have the key for it I have my doubts you will in fact be able to complete the installation..

    You can download the enterprise copy of Windows 7 from Microsoft and use the trial of that to see how 64bit works on your PC;

    After 30 days, your evaluation trial will expire, after that you'll have to buy it.

    The enterprise trial gives you 90 days. Plenty of time to know for sure if it will work for you.

    if you mean that without product key, i'm unable to complete the installation, then i think below acticle should clarify it : Can I install Windows 7 without initially supplying the product - Microsoft Answers

    You can install any copy of Windows 7 without providing a key. With the standard retail versions you get 30 days, and can then run the rearm trick 3 times to get a total of 120 days. However, you cannot download these retail releases right from Microsoft.

    On the enterprise version, it comes right from MS and works for 90 days and doesn't need a key for that 90 days.

    There's never a reason to put in the key during the install anyway. Why burn an activation until you know the system is running stable?

    I believe there are links to DigitalRiver or some site like that has a valid .iso file to download, and would work just fine once you make it a universal disc and you have your own legit license key.

    That's it...I had the digital part of the name right. Those are legit, and the site even includes instructions on making one disc a universal.
