turn-off saved searches

hi i want to turn-off saved searches in windows 7 home premuim 64 bit ive goggled and came up with this Delete or Disable Recent Search Entries History in Windows 7 (Explorer) Search Box My Digital Life

but it says to create a new dword is it a dword are a qword or does that matter thanks

I like to save downloaded files and stuff like that on individual partitions, trying to keep things organized. However it appears as if the search in the start menu does not search the other partitions of my harddrive. Only the OS partition (C)... Solution?
