XP/Vista software compatible in Win7 Home Premium?

I am new to the forum. I have the Win7 RC 7100 build right now. I have installed most of what I need to run and everything is great so far. The only question I have is would all the programs I am running now run in Win7 Home Premium since it will not include the Windows XP mode? I never ran Vista so this mode is new to me. I am assuming that if I need to go in and tell it to run in XP mode that that software would not run in Home Premium. Therefore I am also assuming that if I can install software and it runs without me telling it to run in XP mode, then it should be fine in Home Premium. Please correct me if I am wrong or if I am on the right track here. Thanks a lot!

You might find Download details: Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor Beta and Windows Vista Compatibility Center useful in determining compatibility.

That program worked like a charm. The only issue I have is it says everything is compat. with win7 but it did not say which version. Am I to assume that all would be ok on Win7 Home Premium since it did not complain about software issues?

First hi and welcome to sevenforums

Win 7 home premium does not run VIRTUAL xp mode, but will run anything in xp compatibility mode. the only time you would use compat mode is if software is older and not compatible in win 7. to see it all you have to do is right click any exe file and you will see the compatibility tab

    Its easy

The only program I've had compatibility issues with was daemon tools. And that was when the beta was out. But I tried it again, it still says its incompatible, but this time it will install, and it seems to work like a charm.
