unbelievable. fixed it. Listening to Windows Weekly with Paul Thurrott and he mentioned that Live Mesh doesn't work properly with 7. It breaks the glass. Uninstalled Live Mesh and the problem is fixed!

Microsoft needs to fix live mesh!! I use it all the time!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was having the same issue on my wife's Dell Studio 17 that I put 7000(x64) on last night. Everything was fine on my x64 build, but I thought maybe the Intel WDDM drivers wouldn't do glass on 7 for some reason.

Huge thanks to you. Maybe sticky this one, mods?

All Above Responses to the Question are really pathetic...
    Here's Solution:

Right Click -> then select "Personalize"

Then on the Left Pane you find "Trouble Shoot Display Setting",

then automatically it will show the problem and it will Solve...

Then now you can Change Settings... All settings will be apply....

windows 7 aero and taskbar colour wont change

ok if somebody can help me because ive been searching the web for hours looking to resolve this issue. i have windows 7 professional 64 bit (build 7600) I cant seem to change the taskbar on the desktop which remains black/grey colour. aero transparency wont work after having checked that peek and aero are enabled. tried fix transparency etc in the start menu and still no joy. downloaded latest drivers. i have igb 5650 radeon ati. 8gb ram and i5 520 processor and im still scratching my head. i've selected troubleshoot and device manager is set to automatic etc. is there a bug with windows 7 64 bit professional. I ve gone into pc stores and they seem to be scratching there heads too.

can anyone help on this issue would greatly appreciate it.

    cheers

    Similar Problem

I googled taskbar color issues and found this forum, which I am already a member of. Even though the original post is almost a year old, I replied cause I know windows stuff can be frustrating.

Not sure if this will help your problem. but I had a similar problem with the damn task bar not "sticking" the background theme I selected. I did the following...

Right click on the desktop in a blank area.

    Select "Personalize"

When the window pops up at the bottom choose "Window Color"

Untick the "Windows Transparency" box ( if its unticked , tick it )

Retick the "Windows Transparency" box. ( if its ticked, untick it )

This fixed my taskbar color problem. For some reason after a hard reset of the pc, the bar will get this bland greyish color. The above instructions fixed mine for me.
