Just noticed something else interesting. I can not delete the folder that those files reside in - when I select the folder/delete, I get that same error. This actually makes sense; if you cant delete a file, you shouldn't be able to delete the folder that holds that file. But that is only true after I click on one of those files.
Here is the repro:
Boot into W7
Open My Comp > G
Select the Music Vids folder/delete. It deletes
Undo, the folder appears back in the G dir
Double click Music Vids, and open it
Using the back arrow at the top left of the window, navigate back to G
Select the Music Vids folder/delete. It deletes
Undo, the folder appears back in the G dir
Double click Music Vids, and open it
Click on one of the "problem files"; it is selected
Using the back arrow at the top left of the window, navigate back to G
Select the Music Vids folder/delete. It does not delete, and I get the aforementioned error
So, merely selecting one of the "problem files" puts this issue into motion. As I said, I will try what you suggested later, but this is really strange.
