    Windows Installer shutdown my computer

Hallo, i have just purchased a computer -Sony Vaio
i am running windows 7 home premium and Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS Lucid Lynx(linux)

i have installed Microsoft Office on windows, and that worked fine. . i closed down my computer, and when i started up by booting windows, comes windows installer up and try to install Microsoft office, and then it fail and my computer shutting down.
each time i trying to boot up windows my computer automatically shutdown after 30 seconds, or somethings like that.

i could see in my processes that it was Windows installer, i opened file location for "windows installer" and saw it was the file Msiexec.exe

i thought it was some kind of virus, so i booted up Ubuntu and got into windows folder(by Ubuntu) and deleted the file. then i could finally log in to windows without shutdown, BUT then all my programs didn't work, when i try to install or uninstall some programs it all failed. So i restored my Msiexec file, and now i am back to shutdown after startup.

So my question is how to get windows installer to work normal again?
delete the windows installer and get a new, which and where?

    thanks for help.

PS. sorry for bad English and bad gamma.

Have you tried a system restore to a date earlier than when you tried to install Microsoft Office?

Well, Msiexec.exe is an essential system file. It is the Microsoft Windows Installer Tool. Without this tool nothing can be installed, uninstalled or managed. Your office installation is probably incomplete, since typically it requires a reboot and after the reboot you typically should see a blue screen with installation progress information. Also there is always a message "do not turn off your PC". It seems that this process somehow got interrupted, did not complete, and now that you deleted the Msiexec.exe it can't complete at all.

My suggestion is to (1) back up you files, (2) boot with Windows 7 installation DVD and run a repair, (3) get rid of the incomplete Office install and re-install Office following all prompts precisely.

    Hope that helps.

If you have some restore points from before you tried installing Office you can use one of those to restore to. You dont need the CD / DVD to do a "System Restore".
