32 Bit/64 Bit...
I have always had a 32 Bit computer. Or processor or however it is stated.
What is the difference between the two and what are the advantages besides being able to have more than 4 GB of RAM?
I have been looking to get a new computer. No I do not do gaming but id still like a nice one including HD capability in the video card, fast cpu, and a decent amount of memory. I dont know which computer manufacturer is the best with a decent price. Id like to get a 64 bit computer because I assume it is much better than the 32 bit variety.
Thanks ahead of time from a hardware newby.

Well BucSox..Pretty much all comercial computer manufacturers sux!
They cant install any version of windows without seriously screwing it up with buy me ware.
And the way they all think their experts at drive partitioning is comical at best.
You should hand pick your components and build from the ground up yourself, or have a trusted freind or computer shop build it for you.
The difference is shocking.
No computer is shipped from Dell, HP, Gateway, Toshiba or Acer is setup right.
Sorry.

Thanks for the reply.
I was actually considering building my own, but I dont know what is compatible with what. I assume you start with a mother board and go from there. But ive got no clue what board to start with.

any current Core 2 Duo (or Quad or i7) can do 64 bit computing....
as for amd and processor since the Athlon 64 can also do it too
usually the only problem you should have is the driver issues...
i really at this point recommend to get more than 4 gb's of ram as x64 os really takes an advantage of this memory....
our resident x64 expert (x64 xPert and goes by the name DiamondNRG as he calls himself) or any admin/mod/7 pro can help you....
as for the issue of OEM's....
ive had included x64 vista in laptop and it was not bad.....
all it need is that a computer has in essence motherboard (that can handled said cpu and x64 drivers) processor (as stated above)
