do the pre-order W7 releases contain both 32 and 64-bit versions on the same DVD?

+1 - that is good info to know - I suspect that you have to specify architecture when pre-ordering though.

If you pre-order from MS site you can download each one

I believe it was already discussed in the pre-order thread and the general conclusion was it contained both as you did not have to specify when you ordered.

I have not seen any sites that make you select if you want X86 or X64 meaning you get both. We will have to wait and see whether they both end up on the same disk or get two disks though.

Thanks Yup, and K3vlar. It would be nice if they are on the same disc as well....

If they can put both on the same disk I am sure they will to save costs.

Lol - I know they can, if 8 versions of XP could be put on a single CD....

I know they can to but I do not want to say they will for sure unless I can provide proof first. I just mentioned the saving cost bit as that would probably be the main influence for doing so.

They won't be on the exact same disk! Neither was Vista. The retail purchase even with the pre-order for the upgrade of Home or Pro will see two disks using one product key.

Ever see a single dvd case with two disks and a center that swiings out with the second disk on the back side? They'll have to have some form of divider in the new plastic case being displayed. Windows 7 Team Blog - The Windows Blog
