windows 7 can open regedit with command prompt but not from doing a search and then clicking on regedit.exe .
also in my taskbar the network internet access icon has a red x but i do not have a proble accessing the internet. thanks

The network system tray icon is just a glitch that can sometimes be resolved by restarting the computer.
What happens when you type regedit in the Start Menu search box and press Enter? Any errors or messages?
thanks the regedit problem is solved and i will restart later.
i am clueless. the only thing i can think of was i had just done a system restore and it was still buiding.
