No Start Search, no Win+F, but Constrained Search works?

    The guide for the repair install says:
    You must have at least 8.87 GB of free space, more if you have a larger installation, on the hard drive/partition Windows 7 is installed on to do a repair install.
    ...which I do, but it's asking me for 15gig free, which is impossible. I might as well reinstall. And I do have the appropriate installation disk.

    This is one of those moments where I'm regretting the way my PC is setup, and not because of the hardware. :/

    I guess I'm going to have to live without Start Search until I upgrade. Pitty, I love that feature of 7.

    Thanks for all your help and suggestions so far.

    Uninstalling SP1 now

    Edit: no dice, still broken. GAH!!

    Edit2: Thanks everyone for your help. I've succeeded in "breaking" 7 by mucking around with user accounts, so I'm going to fresh-reinstall in a moment.
