    Help Needed - System Resume

    Hi,

The system resume on my laptop appears to have given up; every time I turn it on following the battery draining I arrive at the "Start Windows Normally" etc. screen. Could anyone advise?

For what it's worth, I'm running 7 Home Premium 32-bit on a Dell Inspiron 1525. Though the laptop originally ran Vista.

Are you saying Win7 will not hibernate? What are the Advanced Power Options settings under Sleep? Test Sleep at 1 minute followed by hibernate at 2 minutes to see if they work. If not, update your Display adapter.

Check also the performance log for any clues to what is hanging at the moment of sleep/hibernate: troubleshooting steps

First thing I noticed when I went into power settings is that I was on High Performance. Changed this to Balanced, ran the battery down and the system successfully resumed. Does that sound right?

You might want to look for AC power more to avoid running down the battery as often.

I'd also try running Power Saver mode for awhile to see how it works for you.
