Windows 7: Can't copy and replace existing file

Can't copy and replace existing file

I cannot copy a file and replace an exiting file:

No messages, not even "file exists"; this includes drags and copy/paste.
Get "file exists" on "Save As.
On "Cut" "Error 0x80070490: Element not found"

I have to physically delete the file and paste the new one. This is not a protection problem, it is just a simple text file that I created for the test in 2 different folders. This is the first time I have ever seen this including Win 3.1. Thanks....

Win 7 - 64 bit, Home Prem.

AntiVirus: Microsoft Security.
No IE Toolbars, using Firefox.
Firewall: Comodo.
Made some changes to .msstyles. Do not remember when this could have started, but it is very recent.

How can I 'Copy and Replace' not 'Move and Replace'.
For some reason W7 has decided to change 'Copy and Replace' with 'Move and Replace' when picking a file up with the left mouse and dragging it to another folder where an old version of the file exists. My Excel SS is in two places: My desktop and USB which I use for backup. I would simply open...

Replace default .pst file with existing .pst file
I upgraded from Vista Business to Seven Home Premium. Used Office 2007 in Vista and using it in Seven. In Vista, my .pst file was C:\Outlook\MyOutlookFolder.pst. Added it to Outlook using Data File Management, but none of my calendar entries appeared (my inbox and all my other folders are OK). When...

Copy dialogs pop up over Confirm File Replace Dialog
one thing I can't understand why they still have not fixed the file replace bug. copy a file to a server - you get the confirm file replace dialog then a second later the copying dialog pops up over it. Been the same since XP... why can't this all be in the same dialog? Not to quote a...

Outlook 2010 - Copy Existing PST Folders to New PST
Making a new Outlook data file (PST) is even easier in Outlook 2010 than in Outlook 2003 (maybe 2007 as well?). You can store the new PST in any location: new folder on local drive, different local drive, removable drive, network drive, etc. Here I will create a new Outlook 2010 data file, save...
I want to Copy & Rename, not Copy & Replace
When I drag a file into a folder that has a similarly named file, I am asked to either "Copy and Replace" or "Don't Copy". I would love it if there was a third option "Copy and Rename". I would get so much done so much faster. I'm hoping there is some kind of registry tweak I can do to get...
