    Help with new install

How do I tell if I even got it activated? It says "this copy of windows is not genuine" at the bottom right..does that go away if its activated?

Also..I thought I deleted Vista off when I installed 7 but looking at my disk space it says 120gigs used..but when I boot up it doesn't show Vista as a boot option or anything? How do I get it off? Its obvious its still on my harddrive..no way I'm using 120gigs with a clean install of win 7..

I think its against the rules the discussion of activation methods.. could be wrong.. And you could search in C:/ your windows.old folder.

Well this sucks..Windows 7 just crashed on me and wants me to reinstall it? I'm still running it though but the screen is black and so is the taskbar?

Hello mike, welcome to the forums.

In this case, I don't think it is against the rules. But it may be easier to just go to the M$ website and DL the RC. Works fine.

Razzen helped me figure it out for activating, I +Repped ya Raz, thanks.

I found the C:/Windows old and yea..I'm guessing that's the Vista OS I had installed..its 48gigs ..don't think I'll be needing anything from it so I can just delete Windows.old off?

O and as far as the black desktop background and taskbar..I changed that back to windows 7 default after I activated it.

Yeah if you don't need anything from your old files, its safe to delete it. I did it with mine.

    Wow..

I just deleted Windows.old off (130gigs used before deletion)

And after delete I'm still using 89.8gigs? I have barely downloaded anything? Does it really use this much space?

I'm not sure if you understand the question...Win 7 is using 89gigs of my harddrive space with barely anything installed..is this normal for 64bit Win 7?

I'm not worried about harddrive space..I have a 580gig hdd but I'm shocked Win 7 is using this much?
