    Software which locks computer

    Hey,
I tried to google for software which locks WHOLE computer for period that I can decide before locking.

Ideal program would be : I can make hotkey--and when I press hotkey computer will shutdown and I wont be able to use my computer for X time I configured.

Basically I want to disable my computer fully with hotkey. And I wish there are'nt any way to bypass (at least easy) this lock.

If someone knows program which is exactly what I described or something to that way--please tell me.

And I'm not looking for only free softwares, this is so important so not big probelm to pay for this.

Hello dessire and welcome to Seven Forums.

I'm not aware of any program that will lock the computer and then turn it back on at a pre-determined time. The primary purpose of locking a comp is to keep unauthorized people from using it. If the authorized user isn't back at the computer when it automatically unlocks, then anybody can have access to the machine.

If your computer is password protected, you can lock it down by clicking Start and moving your cursor over the shutdown button. This will open the shutdown menu and there's a lock option. Or, you could use the keyboard shortcut by pressing the WinKey + L. Or a third option is to create a separate shortcut that can be pinned to either the taskbar or the start menu.

Well... don't think these options can help me even tho they're good.

I just simply need some software which do anything that I can't use computer in any way for at least 1hour.

Or prolly if I tell why I wan this it can give better idea and/or some other solutions.

So I doing my living on computer and sometimes I lose my discipline and thats very dangerous, I can destroy 1month of work in this condition. So it's super important to fully lock my computer.

Ideal would be when I press hotkey and it OFF's my computer instantly and for 1hour if I even watch to my computers way it punches me to face.

But ya, to prevent trolling : I was'nt serious about that punching (would be actually great but impossible to make only by installing software).

Have browsed whole google already but can't find what I need.
Actually I thought about setting up password in Bios (type long and hard password and forget it) and that's actually OK idea.
Only problems are that I can't configure time I want to keep my computer password protected with password I don't remember and prolly hard to make "panic button" -type thing.

Just praying someone has something like this... getting software like this would be best thing in long time (well, one of best, EASILY).

Readed description and prolly this is best possible soft. on market since there's not much ppl like me who want to lock their computer.

But definitely testing it now and definitely buying. Hope it works in compatibility mode.
And ya thanks one more time, needed this.

    Hi there

There isn't any mechanism around whiich stops someone from physically powering OFF the computer -- so the user will usually always get a LOGON screen on re-boot.

There is software around that will start a command on re-boot which you could use to prevent access to the computer --you would still need to shut the machine down however.

For example say you run Acronis from within Windows and you want to image the SYSTEM (or WINDOWS) partition -- it will ask you to re-boot and then on re-boot the acronis program starts before Windows is booted up.

I don't know how to do this myself but this is the type of function you need. On restart you arpplication program starts --it can check the date / time etc and if the period has passed then allow normal Windows logon.

You need to find a more "techie" guru who can explain how to do this but I'm sure the facility must exist to run a specific command or even a batch file when the system is booted.

(In Linux this is EASY W7 much more difficult).

    Cheers

It sounds like you need to learn some discipline instead of trying to find software to use as a crutch....if I'm reading your comments right. I'm not exactly sure what the issue is, but if you find yourself too addicted to the computer, or staying on it too late, set a alarm on your phone...and when it goes off, you shut down for the night.
