Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.
 
 
Need some help regarding file extensions

Could anyone tell me what is the destination of (.lnk) extension. some how its being changed and what ever I want to open from the Start Menu. Its open with the MS Word.

I think I am not able to describe my problem properly but I need help. plz hep me.

4 BG RAM
CORE i3
1 GB HD GRAPHIC.

Hi there! Welcome to SF!

Go to this thread Default File Type Associations - Restore and download the file for lnk (Shortcut link files) and run the file that should solve your problem.

I changed folder options to view files extensions. I then tried to change the file extensions on a couple of files and every time I tried to change an extension to a different type (i.e. *.htlm to *.rar) the explorer window freezes and shows not responding. Has anyone else had this problem?
