    More updates.

I installed Windows XP, and used the OEM code that I was given. It wouldn't activate over the internet (no drivers) but I did get it activated over the telephone. Bring on the 7 Upgrades!

It went fine! All I had to do was talk to a (very annoying ) automated person, and now my XP is activated! I did have some trouble with drive letters () and the order I needed to Format my HDD's in the XP setup. I took the opportunity to re-wire my case! Then re-installed XP (I personally don't like OS's on drive D: ) and re-activated and it seems to be running fine, as I passed the Windows Genuine Advantage test!

Is anyone taking advantage of Best Buy's offer of the $50 pre order? IT seems like a good deal. The software doesn't ship until October...

Is there any way that Microsoft will allow BETA users to purchase a serial and authenticate the BETA to be a official copy of Windows7?

The pre-order lasts until July 11th. It is a good deal for those, like me, who bought a laptop as a Christmas Present (last year) that came with Vista Premium on it.

It's also a good deal for those who have newer XP machines that meet the Win7 requirements. With this OS, you need to understand that a 'clean' install with the upgrade DVD is what will be needed.

I highly doubt the possibility of that. If you have Win7 RC7100 on you machine right now, it's operable until June 1, 2010.
