    Path problem?

    In the command prompt when I type ipconfig /all I get 'ipconfig is not recognized'. But when I type C:\Windows\System32\ipconfig.exe /all it works. I believe this means something it screwed up with my path. How would I go about fixing this?

    Thanks, and sorry for the noobness

    At the command prompt, you should be able to type

    path

    and then enter to see the environment path for your unelevated cmd.exe

    Right click Computer, Properties, Advanced tab, Environment variables, and then find the path entry, and edit...

    You should see something like below:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Windows Live;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowe rShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Shared

    Broken down at the semicolon breaks, this is:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Windows Live;
    %SystemRoot%\system32;
    %SystemRoot%;
    %SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;

    %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;
    C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Shared

    If anything is missing for your system, (particularly those lines emboldened above) you should add it (carefully, without typos or extra spaces etc).
