Location is not available - error - need some help

I am getting Location is not available - error
I get this error when I do a delete on a file or folder (doesn't happen all the time) then windows 7 crashes. I go back to the file location and it is gone - I guess after giving the error it deleted the file or folder.

EDIT: This seems to happen when I copy the file or folder over to my hard disc (My Passport 500gig) then go back and delete the file or folder from my onboard hard drive (though not all the time). This has been going for a couple of days now.
EDIT: Is this a sign that I should defrag my HD? I did a defrag analyze and it came up 6% fragmented.

    How do I correct this?
    Running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

    Thanks
    John

I did a Disk Cleanup and that didn't help.
I then did a disk defrag and that didn't help

from an elevated command prompt - start, type cmd, then right-click cmd.exe and run as administrator, type the following command:

    Dir C:\Users\John\Documents /a hs >dirtest.txt

Open up dirtest.txt in notepad, and look for EPS.FILES

Is it there? If so is it a file, a <DIR>, a <JUNCTION> , or what?

Is EPS.FILES the full name or does it have an extension?

I would guess it is a junction pointing to a location that is missing or moved.
