Go to Control Panel, Ease of Access;
Aero Snap - Turn On or Off

Mike:
Kind of you to reply.
I'm in "Ease of Access" but see nothing about AeroSnap; I do see "start magnifer", "start Narrator", "start on-screen-keyboard","setup high contrast", and below this "explore all settings" with menu items like "use the computer without a disply", etc.
My pleasure.
The setting you want is;
"Prevent Windows from being automatically arranged when moved to the edge of the screen".
I marked it with a cursor.
Also, the link Brink added explains it exactly; Aero Snap - Turn On or Off

Don't turn this off as it is a very useful feature. As long as your mouse pointer does not hit the edge of the screen it won't happen. Change YOUR habits and learn how to make use of the new features rather than crippling them.
It almost seems as though the Guru's of Windows don't want you to know this piece of information.
Thanks for the help, it worked as advertised and I'm eternally grateful.
Okay, maybe not eternally, but I'll be grateful for years to come.
Okay, maybe not for years to come, but I'm pretty happy right now.
Are you serious ?
These features have been there since day 1, I find it hard to believe that you do not know how to use them, Windows 7 has been out since 2009
All you have to do is grab the window at the top and pull it down and it won`t fill the entire screen.
Aero snap is very convenient for people with only 1 monitor.
Why are you in this thread when you started one of your own ?
It isn't a matter of knowing how to use them, I'm just annoyed with the fact that there is no SIMPLE way to turn it off if one does not know the terminology used to describe this "feature". I think it's hard to believe that there are still those in the computer community who have such contempt for those who ask a simple question.
That isn't the point now, is it. The point is that it's annoying when I'm trying to do something quickly and suddenly the screen is filled, blanking out the rest of the stuff that's on the screen, to which I would like to refer.
Aero snap is ONLY convenient to use if one knows the terminology and has had experience using it. Now that I've used it, yes, I agree, it's easy to use.
I started my own because I was not aware that the issue had already been resolved in another thread. As the all knowing guru of this forum, if you'll tell me how to delete the thread that I started, I'll be happy to do so.
Maybe these will help.
Disable Aero on Windows 7 or Vista (or Windows 8.x, Sorta)
