First Impressions from a Monster WIN7 RC Build 7100

    First Impressions from a Monster WIN7 RC Build 7100, D'oh!! I already
said that just checking my spell checker, as I Suck Hard at spelling
and to think my Parents, both with School Teachers.
I was up Hella Late last night dorking around with WIN7 RC

    Like a good NERD!!

    Ok onto more pressing matters....
    I haven't had but 10 hours experience with WIN7 RC 7100 so
I can't say to much, so I'll make this brief. First oof, I want to say, I normally don't mess with Beta nothing, so I waited for a DVD to be sent to me from a MS MVP friend, he had 8 copies I got one as we are like two pees in a pod.
So I have the DVD I did not download Win7 RC from the Internet, I would not personally do that, even for testing. Downloads "Are like a BOX of Chocolates...You never know what you'll get" LOL, I kill myself. Man and I tired!! I was up 'till almost 5 am CAL time. But I'm a Power Napper too!!

Ok, then. This morning, I knew I'd be needing help soon as I ordered WIN7 HP and will be getting the Full version in Oct. 09. To upgrade my Vista HP 64 bit Version, bla, bla, bla...

Now about Win7 RC v7100, here are a few things I noticed right off the bat, when I pin stuff to the start Menu, the disapear now and then, for reasons, unknown to me? It doesn't work with anything Brower wise but IE8, worth a Damn. So I'm stuck with IE8. For now, will go w/ff when they get their act together, however they have been busy with the new release of FF 3.5.? Which I have the latest great version YET, fast as F$#K, adore it!! So that's a major issue for me, as I don't care for any IE Browsers from MS, IE7 was prolly their best IE8, is way to Confusing IMHO.

Oh and one again IE8 and MS dropped the BALL with IE8, not built in spell checker, for the life of me, why??

Back to WIN7 RC. it boots a lot faster than Vista, a plus. Uses smaller footprint, another Plus. I don't like that default lets keep a gang og crap stcked up in the task bar thing, but easy to fix. I don't care for how they did the "lets go to Display settings" it now takes more work than ever to get where I want to be in my NV CP GUI. Here's a positive note, I'm a HUGE gamer and WIN7 looks to be the best yet for gaming!! I had a full game install in no time running blazing fast!! It's more backword compatable friendly as well. Love that Action!! I'm running a Game that was released in '98 or so the Original Unreal Game. Gold Edition. Runs perfect, and looks stunning!! I'm a tad bent as I just bought a new GFX card, again. My GTX 275 FTW EvGa NV card. 713 stock core clock. 240 Stream Processors, it's one rocking Card!! Though it's a DX10 card and Win7 is DX11, no big deal, there are no DX11 games released anyhow. Plus if History repeats itself as it normally does. DX!! will be pretty far off, not to mention a DX10 card can run 90% of the New stuff in DX11 Already. I read this on the net, of damn coarse!! So my new card will be good for a Year maybe. Drivers with WIN7, yep some issues there, to be expected, though MS WIN7 seems to be on top of it, they installed the correct driver sfor my stytem except my Sound, and a few others, Printer. To their defence they installed the ones that matter the most correctly, my MoBo driver.

Well I'll post more about all this later, I am exhausted and need a serious NAP!!

Here's my WIN7 install within 30 minutes of up time. Ok maybe an Hour at most::

    Welcome to the forums Jeff

While 7264 is the latest build i'm still with 7260 x86 RC, while 7232 is the latest x64 RC build. 7264 needs 'tweaking ' to activate but that's entirely up to you

    Thank You.

Thanks Fellas. Well I'm not messing with any newer versions. Mine is on a DVD, and I'll always have it. Not mention I'm not to sure but doesn't MS update your version to the latest on it's own? I have no idea, I'll check again, it runs very, very well. So I have not a Complaint I'll leave that yo folks whom like to Complain, there's never a shortage of them, LOL!!

I have Windows Seven HP pre-ordered already, well as soon as I could
order it from the EGG. So my main OS in OCT will be WIN7, heck that's all I use now, I have a dual boot set-up Vista 64 but HP and WIN7 RC.
Not going to mention the version Numbers anymore

I love the Hell outta WIN7, but yes I'd like to see a few changes here and there, nothing major by any means. Come on OCT. 09!!

Win7 x64, 7264 is the only O/S in operation in my house of 4 computers. Even knowing that I'll have to do it all over again in Oct, my wife let me install it on her box and she's very hesitant to let me even walk close to her computer. She's loving it.

    I kinda like it to

Hi Monster and welcome to the forum.
You said in your first post that you were having difficulty with Firefox.
I'm running 7232x64 and the old and new versions run fine. I was on RC1 and have been on several builds and FF is all I've used right through and it works great.
Also I'm using a GTX 260 with the latest Nvidia drivers (186.18 I think) and it runs like a rocket.
There is a thread about graphics cards on the forum and you can get a link to Nvidia forceware downloads.
Any help you need there are loads of helpful people on this forum.

    Cheers, John
