Cannot boot from CD.

I am on Windows 7, and was planning to reformat my PC and install Windows 7 on it again.

So I made a bootable DVD with Windows 7 on it, everything went perfect, but when I restart my PC to boot into the CD, I wait for the message ''Press a key to boot from the CD'' to come, but it won't, instead I get a message saying the below.

''Cannot boot from CD: Error 5.
Error: NO EMULATION SYSTEM TYPE 00.''

Something like that, I'm not sure if it is exactly like it, but it does say something about error 5, and the emulation.

Go into your BIOS, and go to the boot priority. Change it to CD/DVD group for number 1. Then restart and go from there.

Also, after you get the OS installed, make sure you change it back to the Hard drive group.

Not sure what you meant when you say you make a bootable Windows 7 DVD???

Did you use the on-board software - Samsung Recovery Solution to make backups? If your Laptop is not bootable, hit the F4 key during startup and it will get you to the recovery options screen. Let us know.

Try removing the dvd, power down the computer, reboot, insert dvd and try booting off it.

If that doesnt work, try using an external dvd drive or better still install from a usb key.

Where did you get Win7? Confirm your ISO integrity, then burn to DVD using ImgBurn at 4x speed with Verify. Make sure it says Bootable in the text at left.

Trigger DVD to boot using one-time BIOS Boot Menu key. Are you getting the prompt to "Press any key...?"

Are you using a DVD drive, as you keep referring to CD. Win7 installer uses a DVD in a DVD or combo drive.

Well, I'm using my DVD Drive.

I burned Windows 7 onto a DVD-RW 4.7GB DVD-RW with ImgBurn and used the correct settings for a bootable DVD.

I'll try burning again.

I think I've had that error on one of my older PC's. As near as I could figure it, that PCs BIOS couldn't handle the Windows 7 boot loader. All I ever got was "Cannot Boot from CD, code 5". That PC could boot from a Windows XP CD no problem but not a Windows 7 DVD. And yes it did have a DVD-ROM drive. I ended up doing a custom install from XP in order to get windows 7 to install. That was a long time ago now, I can't remember if it was one of the early Betas or maybe the Enterprise trial. The DVD was burned from an ISO file. I don't have that PC anymore or I'd try my official Windows 7 Home premium DVD on it. If the PC you are trying to install it to is fairly new I wouldn't think its a BIOS issue other than the DVD not being burned correctly maybe.

Can you walk us through the process you used from start to finish? Where did you get the ISO? Did you make it or download it? If downloaded, from where? If you made it, what did you use to convert the ISO?

Since I already have a key my father got for his notebooks that have multiple-uses for Professional.

Unpacked it, burned the contents to my DVD-RW with ImgBurn, and thats all.
