    Lifespan of windows 7?

Sorry if that has already been answered, but I searched here and googled the web.
I looked here and noticed XP Pro is supported (security patches only, I suppose) till 2014, which is great and makes 13 years.
however, vista, which came on the market in 2007 only gets supported till 2012, which brings it to 5 years and basically means XP has a longer useful life than vista (I know, many people say it is more useful anyway

so, what is the supported lifespan of "7"? I know, I can use it forever... but without added features for new hardware and security patches it becomes obsolete over time. I think 13 years is not necessary, but 5 years is too short. since "7" only is the "vista like it should have been" I hope its supported life doesn't end in 2012 either

Again, sorry if that has been posted already, but searching didn't yield anything... only million references to XPs lifespan.

I think this might answer the question, 5 years for consumer products, 10 years for business products.
Under Vista that means even the Ultimate version only has 5 years. they started that policy as of 10/2002.
So, will they see the 7-Pro as consumer or as business version? Well, I guess to us nerds that always need the newest software it doesn't matter. But if I buy a new PC 2.5 years after the OS was released (on average I'm either rigth before or behind a release), I only have 2.5 years on average and then need to buy and install a new OS? And as a noob I'm able and willing to do that? Especially since consumers probably don't need all the new features of future OS (the majority of consumers uses Twitter and yahoo, nothing else

Hey, if I get "7" it will expire right when my XP-Pro expires, in 2014. No fair! Well, as a student I might only pay $77 for the Ultimate (current price for UE Vista for students).

The final end of life, when Micro$not will quit issuing security updates is:

    Windows XP 4/08/2014
    Windows Vista 4/11/2017
    Windows 7
    1/14/2020
