You are right, in the example I tested I left out the http://www part.
Doesn't look like wordpad will work.

You could try notetab light. It is a free tabbed text editor that I had used for years but didn't install it on my last couple of computers. There is a paid version as well as the free one but the free one works very well and allows you to select a weblink by triple clicking on it.
Here is a llink to it's download page :The Portable Freeware Collection - NoteTab Light

When the selection highlight ends:
- Move the mouse pointer to the end of the link
- Hold the Shift key down
- Left click with the mouse (with the pointer still at the end of the link)
I just tried this using Notepad++, a free and excellent text editor, and it worked as I believe you want. It's available here:
Notepad++ Home
I tried running notepad.exe from XP on Win 8, same parsing problem, so it's an OS change, not a notepad change. There may be a way to change "white space" detection at the OS level.
Yes, I tried it and it works nice. But I love the simplicity of Windows Notepad, I don't need the fancy features. Which of the alternative notepads would be the most similar (in looks and functionality) to the Windows Notepad? The only thing I'm missing is the ability to copy the whole line of text as in Windows XP, so... If anyone tried more notepad alternatives, please tell me.
Thank you!
I use Wordpad for storing links. From Wordpad you can start a webpage directly by clicking on it.
In fact I have pinned Wordpad to my taskbar so that I have it always handy.
Good idea! But is there a way to disable the WordPad from asking me if I want to go to the specific website every time I click on a link?
I meant I'd like to click on the link and go to that site immediatelly, without WordPad asking me if I want to go. Is that possible?
And thank you. :)
