Can anyone help please. My daughters PC keeps tabbing out of the current application which is running, doesnt seem to matter which one it is, Im assuming back to desktop. This happens after a few seconds, e.g. can open Explorer and before ive type 3 or 4 letters into the search field its tabbed out and its beeping at me because im not actually typing into anything.

I cannot get much sense out of her as to when this started, or if there has been another major event which I havent been told about.

PC only used for Facebook, itunes, cbbc and school. No other programmes on there to speak of.

Ive checked to see whats running, and turnedd off as much as I could, just in casesomething was trying to update etc, but to no avail.

Ive updated drivers, or in most cases tried to, and they are all up to date.

Other than this issue there are no other problems, no crashes, no bsod just tabbing out

Hi BankofDad and welcome to SF.
I would assume that's something which was picked up from facebook.
So check the taskmanager (CTRL-ALT-DEL) to see if there's something unusual/unknown running.
If you can, post a snapshot of the opened taskmanager.

In the meantime try to start in safe mode and see if that still happens

Is it a laptop? If so it is very easy to brush the touchpad when typing. I do it myself all the time.

No its not a laptop, we changed the mouse to see if that was an issue, but no. Ran AVG, Malwarebytes, superantispyware but nothing.

However, just took it back to basics, i.e. msconfig, turned off everything which didnt seem necessary, unplugged the usb wireless dongle and restarted, and no problems.

Switched AVG back on again no problems,
plugged the dongle back in, no problems,
put msconfig start up back to what it was and restarted, still no problems

Im typing this on her pc which I couldnt do before, so sorted? would seem so but with no particular solution. Im no dummy but then again no expert, I did as much as I thought i could before posting this thread, even searching for a similar problem, and now within half an hour, no particular eureka moment it seems to have fixed itself, now thats what I call a good service.

I will continue to monitor and update whichever way it goes, thanks

Hi I'm 18 years old and I just bought my pc (custom build by friend) If you go to my profile, you can see what my pc is made off.
Now the reason why i'm on this discussion is that I have the same problem as you do (tabbing out). But i don't really get a thing about 'msconfig' and how it would fix the tabbing like it did for you.
I hope you can help me out on this one because it's frustrating when you are typing this and you get tabbed out for more then 10 times.

Hi, i have a same problem too. And i currently done a scan and found 5 threats and i removed them (game trainers) but i still tabbing out. i tried all of your advice try to update but there is no update. just now i installed a pirated ETS2 (i'm curious about pirated games) so i downloaded it. i played that game for the first try and it worked fine, and i install some savegames and it starts to tabbing out that game. and now it spread to everything such as: chrome, windows explorer even makes it closes.

my old asus laptop running win7 pro x64 randomly got this bug for seemingly no reason and still has it today
i gave up using the thing because well it was unusable but now years later my 1yr old pc also running win7 pro x64 has also suddenly started doing the same thing.
ive heard win xp and win10 has this bug too.
microsoft really need to start properly dealing with these horrible bugs before they release another os.
does anyone know anyway of fixing this all??
it was a pain just typing this fgs.
