Open a run command
Type cmd and press enter
Type diskpart press enter and select continue or allow if UAC shows up
Type list disk press enter and the pen drive should be the highest number or should show up as 16gb
Type select disk x (x being the number of you pen drive) press enter
Type clean (note this will erase everything on the pen drive) press enter
Once completed open a run command and type disk management then press enter
Find the pen drive in the list which should have unallocated space and right click and format the drive
this should hopefully fix your problem

Download HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool - CNET Download.com , run it as administrator and format your flash drive.

In most cases it will regain the "lost space" which Windows does not see or format.

How long does it take to format a 16GB thumb drive?
I purchased a 16GB SanDisk Cruzer thumb drive yesterday. I decided to format this morning to get rid of the bloat on it, but I've been sitting here for a least 30 mins and it's still going. How long does this process usually take for 16GB thumb drive?
