pen drive shows only 2gb instead of 16gb!

weirdest think happened. i was using a software hddregenerator and i made a bootable usb pen drive using it . But after the software formatted the pen drive ,now the total space is shown as 1.91 GB instead of the original 14.8 GB. How do i bring my pen drive to its original size. Formatting again dosent work !!

What brand is it and how long have you had it?
Reason I ask is if it is brand new, you may have gotten a fake high capacity flash drive.

Try following this Tutorial: USB Windows 7 Installation Key Drive - Create

Omit Step 10 and finish with Step 16. Note that Step 7 may take some time to complete. Please be patient. You might be better of omitting the quick option in Step 11 (in other words, just use format fs=ntfs).

    This is a valid concern.

You might want to download this to validate the drive's actual capacity:

figured it out fellas . apparently the software used to make it a bootable usb had put a cap on its maximum size and made it completely undetectable to other formatting utilities . A small button "reset flash drive" did the trick. Even Kingston Support had no idea.
    thankyou all for helping

Glad you've resolved your problem. Quite why a cap would be put on the size by the software in question is a mystery.

dont know it for sure but the software uses only a FAT partition to boot in DOS mode and perhaps 2gb is max that could be allocated
