True enough, but some people are not easily able to reach the power button on their machines.

If you want more shutdown options, then you might like to try this;

Lifehacker, tips and downloads for getting things done

Slawdog Smart Shutdown: Home Page

there are quite a few such products available.

http://download.cnet.com/SuperFast-S...-11031205.html

You can add these things, ( or the shutdown.bat ) file to a toolbar on your taskbar if you want. Or pin what is pinnable to your taskbar directly. This gives immediate access.

Be careful with some of them, as although they will shutdown fast some will not close programs properly before doing so.

Change what happens when you press the power button on your computer

QUOTE:

By default, clicking the Shut down button on the Start menu shuts down your computer. You can change this so that instead of shutting down, your computer logs you off, locks, restarts, goes into a sleep state, or goes into hibernation.

  1. Open Taskbar and Start Menu Properties by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Taskbar and Start Menu.
  2. Click the Start Menu tab.
  3. In the Power button action list, click an item, and then click OK.
When you change the action of the Shut down button, the name of the button changes to reflect the new action.

There are lots of ways to do it.

JumpControl: Add Shutdown, Logoff, Restart and Sleep Button On Windows Taskbar

http://www.webtechgeek.com/How-to-on...own-button.htm

I just use the normal Windows menu, but I have seen loads of ways to do it on other machines, and there are hundreds of programs and short cuts to do it.

Some people skin a cat just to see if they can do it. Other people want to know how many ways there are to skin a cat. Some want to know the quickest way, some want to know how to do it without hurting the cat, some don't care about the cat, they only want the skin, some want to do it starting at the head, and some at the tail. Some people want to know how to catch the cat.

None of this actually makes much difference as far as the cat is concerned.
