PC Boot up and External drives

    Hi Guys

    I have a 6 year old computer running windows 7 32 bit.

I keep it up to date etc and it really runs well for an old fella.

One issue I have is not being able to leave external drives powered on.

I have tried all solutions available to change bios settings, usb setting etc but my pc will not boot up with externals attached and powered on.

Just looking for any insights, help etc that may resolve this issue.

    Any assistance appreciated.

Almost sounds like there are too many things trying to power on at the same time. Perhaps a PSU issue?

If the USB problem is unsurmountable does your computer have a firewire port? You could use Firewire instead of USB. Firewire cards are cheap as is a USB to Firewire adapter.

    No it just pauses.

If I reset after turning off the external it boots up fine.
