Folders in link show with padlock

    Hello everyone,
I created a link (named SQLScripts) on my D drive pointing to a folder on [C:\users\rmcban\Documents\SQL Server Management Studio\Projects]

Functionally speaking, everything works fine. The only thing is, aesthetical; when navigating explorer keeps showing my folders and files with a padlock. If I look at the same folder but using c:\... to get there, my icons look normal.

Any ideas how to get rid of those padlocks ?

I already searched this here and elsewhere (other forums, google, etc.) but came up empty.
    Thanks in advance,
    RMcB

Hello rmcban and welcome to seven forums.

I believe that the padlock on the folder is a means to show that the folder is not shared with anyone. I'm not aware of any way to change it except to share the folder.

Just leave it be...really the padlock just means only you have access. The reason the padlock shows is because "D:\SQLScript" is accessible by multiple users. But the files you linked are not accessible by multiple users. Different permissions are set on them versus the SQLScript folder.

If you don't have Homegroup you can do this sharing in the Folder's Properties box..
