Strange Problem..

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and should probably say from the get go that I am not extremely computer savvy. I know my way around, just not in depth stuff. Anyways, I was extracting icons to add custom icons to my HTC Thunderbolt's framework, I extracted a huge folder to my desktop by accident and now I can't move or delete these icons on my desktop. It keeps saying...

"Could not find this item
This is no longer located in C:\\Users\Michael\Desktop. Verify the items location and try again."

I've tried placing the file they originally came from on my desktop, moving them to the recycling bin, placing them in a new folder, rebooting and nothing works. I keep getting the message above. Am I going to have to stare at these icons forever, is there anyway to remove them? I'm really at a loss here and any and all advise, suggestions and/or help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance everyone

edit: I just realized this way be in the wrong section, I apologize if it is

Thank you for the quick reply. I'm embarrassed to say I don't know how to do some of the suggestions mentioned in the thread you linked. I guess I'm not as savvy as I thought. Would you be able to walk me through how to go into CMD prompt and rename the files so I can try and delete them?

To get into command prompt, just click the start button, type cmd, hit Enter. That'll bring up the command prompt where dos commands can be entered.

As for dos commands, heres a list.

MS-DOS help and commands

To rename files, just use the ren command like this:

ren c:\billy bill

renames the folder billy to bill.

Ok, kind of strange, I moved all 32 icons into one pile so I could place a gadget over it to hide, lol. I just checked and they were all gone. SWEET! Not sure how or why, but I'll take it. Thanks for your help, definitely have a good impression of this forum and am excited to start learning as much as I can

In advance, I apologize if this is not the proper place to post this. All of these problems happen all at once, after a few hours of use: 1.) My Recycle Bin will disappear upon emptying it. 2.) All of my folders contain invisible icons. Not all of them are invisible, but most of them. Those...
