I already reported it and received a couple of replies. They don't really seem to think it's a problem with too many people and appear to be ignoring it. I emailed the rep again a week or so ago to ask how things are progressing and he hasn't replied this time. I guess it's easier to ignore than to fix it.

Got it back. I just right clicked where the taskbar would be, and changed one of the Properties.

    Thanks all
Which under Properties did you change? I just did a fresh install and it already happened to me too. Thanks.

What screensaver(s) are you guys running where you see this issue? Are they the default screensavers or third party?

Mine's a 3rd party screen saver. I increased the time to stay on to 2 hrs. so it stays that long without having the taskbar problem. Once the 2 hrs. is up and it tries to sleep or hibernate, I loose the taskbar. But 2 hrs. is a lot better than it was. This, of course, is not a fix just a delay of the incovenience. I'm really kind of aggravated at this point that after spending $150 for an OS that MS just ignores us. That's why they have such a lousy reputation of arrogance.

All I did was change my screensaver and it has never happened again. FYI, I use "Ribbons"

    That is odd indeed.

Were you using the default SS (as in one that CAME with Windows), or did you download it?

I have heard reports of some 3rd party screensaver (one that turns flash files into screensavers) that actually calls ShowWindow(SW_HIDE) on the taskbar for some reason but doesn't bother unhiding it. If you are running into this problem try changing your screensaver to one of the default ones and seeing if it stops happening.

I have an ASUS Notebook, and it came with an ASUS Screensavor that also played some music, and that is the only one that it happened with. Once I changed it to MS's "Ribbons," it's never happened again.....Strange.

They must have programmed the SS wrong.

I tried the Unlocking and locking the taskbar to no effect, then I went to the Task Manager and stopped and started the explorer.exe process and the taskbar came back, Its a quick fix but it didn't solve the issue.
