Windows Search question - will try again here

Hi, I posted this a few minutes ago , https://www.sevenforums.com/browsers-...eml-files.html and someone has moved it to the Browsers and Mail forum.

It is not a "Browser and Mail" question , as such , and as the volume of answers often given in that forum is very low , I'll try again here.

So I will revise my question and leave out the specific file type.

How to get Windows Search to recognise a particular or any everyday file type on an external drive and how to search within that particular file type when Windows Search seems to ignore it's existence. I also have Vista on another machine and there is no problem doing this.

Could you kindly leave this question here. Thanks.

Hello, I have a suggestion rather than an answer to your issue. Personally I don't even use Windows search anymore. Now if I need to find something I use Everything Search. It completely blows away Windows search. Best of all it's free.

Thank you. That works OK with my NTFS hard drive , but on my external drive which is Fat32 , it brings up an error message and is unable to scan.

Looks like not compatible with Fat32 although a USB which is plain Fat , is OK.

Thinking of trying Copernic which I used a few years ago with XP.
