When I click Windows Explorer, it shows on "show desktop" shortcut

I am opening "My Computer" shortcut from the desktop, in the taskbar, the pinned "shows desktop" is getting highlighted. I restarted and stuff, still the same. Does anyone know why?

Hello, in the right side of the Win7 taskbar is a built-in show desktop shortcut. Just wondering why you have a pinned one?

Delete the pinned show desktop shortcut. Hope this helps.

I wanted it on the left side. That is why I created it.

What does the Properties for "shows desktop" look like (right click and select Properties)?

Just for my info, when you click your show Desktop shortcut, does it minimize the windows and show the desktop? Reason for asking is the icon appears to be a computer one?

    Hello IMAyNeed,

This is due to that the pinned "Show Desktop" shortcut is using the explorer.exe process as it's target. By default, whatever pinned item that uses the explorer.exe process that is farthest left on the taskbar (or closest to top if taskbar was moved to the side), will be the one that gets highlighted and has all opened explorer items show their thumbnail previews on.

To workaround this, you can either drag the Windows Explorer icon on the taskbar to be to the left of your "Show Desktop" icon, or you could unpin the "Show Desktop" icon and use Quick Launch with "Show Desktop" in Quick Launch instead.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

No, my computer icon is on the desktop. Show Desktop Icon is on the taskbar. The problem is Windows Explorer Windows highlight the show desktop icon in the taskbar.
