Set the XP VM to use 512 MB RAM so it will use almost no resources. You won't have to worry about drivers either when using the VM -- the "Virtual Hardware" is fairly simple - vmware will have it all set up when you create the VM.
I agree with jimbo45.
You'd only need to create a shortcut for your parents (on the host machine) and then create any shortcuts for the games on the VM.

VMware Player
VMware Player: Run Windows 7, Chrome OS - Free Download for a Virtual PC

The only "difficulty" that I've experienced with VMware is, I couldn't successfully create a VHD and install the OS at the same time.
I've always had to create an empty VHD and then install the OS as a separate action.

Hi there
It's even easier as well to make links from the HOST to the VM -- use the "Unity" feature in VMPLAYER -- It's equivalent (approx) to XP MODE Integration.

VMware Communities: Player 3.1 integration features

Note ........................

You can make a shortcut on the host that runs an app in a guest, that's a feature that we added to unity in Player 3.1 and Workstation 7.1. It's the "and also open this file in the app" part that we don't support right now.

............................................

cheers

Thanks for that info.
I've never found any decent info/tutorials on how to use all the various features of VMware Workstation/Player.
