Win 7 really seems to be a great step forward and away from XP.
Installing a freaking fast running OS in about 20 mins from an external USB drive without having to worry about drivers so much is really nice.
The whole look and feel is very great. When I first saw Windows 7, I thought: "This is what Vista should have been."
By now I'm using Win 7 productive for several months now and it works great! Even with my little netbook it's still fast and handy... Nice nice nice

As a new member here, and a nerd who's been using Windows since 3.0 beta, I must echo much of the same: this OS is really well done! Especially compared to the bloated garbage that is Vista. I just PRAY that MS doesn't fill the final release of Windows 7 with the crap that was in Vista. Windows 7 has stopped me from going to Linux, which was my next step (anything to escape Vista, LOL).

It's smoking fast, especially on a solid state drive. :)

I have a Samsung NC10 with a humble Atom N270 single core and its almost obsolete Intel GMA 950 graphics and this thing runs smoothly on it, I couldn't believe it. Amazing...

I like 7 as well, I never liked xp, in fact I reverted to windows 2000 for a while until vista came out, personally I found 2000 to be much more stable then xp.

I have noticed as a windows/mac user that the two operating systems are becoming more alike every year, perhaps not in base, but at least visually/and the way the ui is handled. Just my thoughts.

Yeah I have to say when I pick up a netbook after the final release of this OS I am going to install 7 on it. The simple fact that netbooks are pretty weak and are still able to run the latest windows smoothly it just blows my mind.

I would love to see AMD release a good mobile processor for netbooks. Anything but Intel...

I don't get it, that people are complaining about vista, they probably never ran it properly, as there really isn't that much difference between vista and Windows 7. It is a minor upgrade. But I guess people slagging off Vista, happily ran Windows XP, which is without any doubt, the most insecure OS ever developed by Microsoft. People who compare Vista with ME, need to buy a clue...

Does the term placebo mean anything to some of you ?

    That's laughable.

A minor upgrade? What about the insane amount of resources it took to run vista? Just to name one major difference that anyone could see. I won't even go into feature differences.

I managed a network full of vista machines and I can tell you right now that the difference between vista and 7 is like day and night.

Something you do in place of formulating an insightful, well-formed, well-informed, documented and non-inflammatory comment?
