    Problem Using recovery disk

No sure where to post this question but needing some help!!!

I have a acer aspire 7551. Im trying to blast the laptop to get rid of a virus kinda new to this whole thing but this is what i've done so far!

I've put the system disk in and rebooted the laptop at the splash screen i pressed f12 to get into the boot menu, i selected the option for cd/dvd and then it goes into a black screen. From there the copy right stuff comes up and then this comes up

PXE-E61: Media test failure, Check cable
    PXE-M0F: Exitig broadcom PXE ROM
    Operating system not found

    Then restarts.

Does anyone have any advise???? Thanks

Hi cbunch, welcome to sevenforums. A bit drastic to use your recovery disc so soon....What have you tried so far? ie. what virus checks / anti-malware checks have you carried out and what are the results? Don't go any further with any recovery disc work yet until we have established that that is the best way forward.

Check the connections to your HD - then see if it is shown in bios.

If cd does not boot - then HD should be next.

Bios is trying to boot from network connection there.

I bought the comp from a friend so thats 1 reason i want to use the disks. i have norton security on here and i've scanned it several time both in safe mode and normal mode both get rid of the virus and then next scan its back. I have nothing important on this laptop so that why its easy to use the disks

Can you boot into Safe Mode (F8 at startup)? (Just seen your reply)

If so you need to run a full virus scan from there.

I'm not sure what the Acer recovery procedure is, but if you still have a recovery partition you should be able to use it and it'll be a lot quicker than using a recovery disc.

Resetting to factory conditions will remove your virus.
