...Everything had worked fine till last week when Windows Explorer starts when the laptop boots up.
Could your issue be related to a recent Adobe update, or did you install an Adobe program?
I did just install Adobe Photoshop CS6

Could that be the cause? If so, would the only solution be to remove the program?

I have a HP Pavilion dv7 Entertainment Laptop. Lately, when I start up my computer, Windows Explorer (Libraries) open automatically. I can close it out with no problem but find it annoying to see it on EVERY startup. I don't know if something happened during a HP or Windows update or if possibly picked up some spyware or malware somewhere. I ran scans with Avast anti-virus, Spybot S&D, and Malwarebytes with nothing serious showing up...just cookies.

Everything seems to run properly with no problems but this showing up on startups/reboots, opens on safe mode also. I checked to see if anything in startup folder...Nothing. I checked msconfig settings...can't find anything unusual.

Please help if you can. I would be very grateful
When does Libraries come up, instead of your desktop, when you open your browser?

I fixed my issue but I did not record the steps accurately. Here are some rough direction.

Using CCleaner, I went to the Tools -> Startup section, and disabled all Adobe programs that were loading at start-up (I despise such programs).

However, there was one Adobe program that refused to be disabled (I forgot the exact name), I've not encountered such a problem before. As I tried to disable it via CCleaner, it would not grey out (indication that it has been disabled).

So instead, I just deleted that Adobe startup program line. Ever since, the windows explorer has stopped popping up :)

Note: I did not delete the Adobe program per se, but just its start-up process

Thanks. I just did that as well since I had been meaning to clean up my startup processes. Disabled all the Adobe ones (had to delete the entry for Adobe Bridge because it would not disable via CCleaner) and some others.

Rebooted and no explorer window and a little faster boot.

    hello world!
I'm another Z580 user and I was having the very same issue. if someone's really curious which entry is the culprit, it's the one that has to be deleted instead of just disabled (related to Adobe Bridge). I've disabled via CCleaner every Adobe startup services - well, I thought I did, but haven't noticed that the Bridge entry wasn't disabled - and the explorer window kept popping up. after that I opened CCleaner again and deleted the Bridge entry and now everything's fine! thanks for guiding me to the solution!

    same problem

I have installed ccleaner and disable all of the adobe startup stuff, and delete the adobe bridge line, restart and still the my computer window pops up. BTW, I also have a ideapad Z580, I love the computer, but this is odd and annoying.

    still has problem

the windows explorer (my computer) still open automatically after every startup (reboot), I tried everything, include "disable all of the adobe startup stuff, and delete the adobe bridge line, check for virus". I even tried the following "msconfig_Startup_Disable all of the startup program", the my computer window still open at startup. Please help.
    Computer: Lenovo Z580, windows 64bit, win7,
Installed program: adobe (acrobat, illustrator, photoshop), microsoft office 2010.

Checked virus by: ESET online scan and Microsoft security essential.

    Please help.

I have the same problem. Bought Lenovo Y480-Windows 7 just days ago and installed 3DS Max, Cad, Adobe CS6, Microsoft 2010. To counter the problem for whatever spyware, I installed Microsoft Security Essential, CCleaner and I have McAfee. But I think the problem occurred when I installed Adobe CS6. I've tried everything. If I'm not mistaken I've rebooted this laptop for about 14x already and still Windows Explorer/My Computer pops-out every startup. Tried "regedit", tried "msconfig" -- I called my I.T. friend!

It's sooo annoying! I wanna get rid of it sooon! HELP! :<

the problem returned for me, it happened as I installed Samsung PC Studio to manage files on my mom's mobile phone. I've checked the starting programs in CCleaner and there was Samsung PC Studio's entry, and guess what? it couldn't be disabled, just like Bridge's. nuked this one and haven't rebooted yet, but I'm 99% positive it was the case. just a heads-up for Samsung owners

edit: make sure to remove NPSStartup from the startup menu too! it's also generated by Samsung PC Studio.
