Scratch that question. I was thinking of the old 133-SDRAM modules...duh!
Hi Everyone! It's nice to hear that so many of you have decided to run Windows 7 on your older machines :) - I just wanted to share this resource that you can run if you are considering installing Windows 7, but are unsure if your computer will support it - Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. The Upgrade Advisor scans your PC for potential issues and gives recommendations on what to do before installing the OS.
Cheers,

800MHz with 512 MB RAM no less!
Why??? Because it was sitting around gathering dust! I had to try it after I saw great improvements on every machine I've loaded it on! From upgrades to clean installs... they all work better than with XP or Vista!
I too find her post hilarious for this thread, because we are here to prove the upgrade advisor WRONG!
Nice! You guys get some pretty good "experience rating" scores. At the family home desktop, we've got a pretty decent setup with a 2.8Ghz processor, 512MBs of RAM, an 80GB hard drive, and a Radeon 9200 video card. The "experience rating" or whatever still gives me a 1. The system still runs well in this setup, so I don't know why it would do that, but it works well, so I don't have to loose sleep over any "number", LOL!

Got a pentium III from 2001 [typing on it now:)]... initially with 256mb ram and 40gb hard drive and windows me. Believe it's asus cuv4xe mobo.
Updated couple of years later to 768mb and 160gb and xp professional.
Video card is ATI 16mb.
XP SP3 professional ran fine... web sites with heavy video [flash?... sorry not too tech savvy] a bit slow.
Windows 7 professional runs as fast if not faster than xp... everything works except audio... can't find win 7 driver for cmedia 8738 [onboard audio... on mobo, I think]... tried from c media web site but kept saying to install card when card already installed... could be I'm trying to install incorrectly.
WEI is 1.0:
Processor 1.2
Memory 1.5
Graphics 1.0
Gaming graphics 1.0
Hard disk 5.4
Office runs fine as well :) Of course using old school crt monitor.
Strange thing is that this desktop very finicky... w7 runs faster than xp which was faster than w2k and about same as wme/98se. Only exception was vista... very slow.
Have tried linux as well... ubuntu 10, linux mint 8/9, linux mint lxde 8/9, linux mint 8/9 xfce/fluxbox, puppy linux... pretty new at linux and perhaps I don't understand it quite well but think I can follow install instructions... anyways none of the linux above were as fast as w7
