Here are a few things you could try.

Notifications - Change How Long to Stay Open

It's probably not a mouse sensitivity issue, but you may want to go the Hardware settings and play around with the mouse settings.

You may also want to try another USB port.

I agree with Karl, sometimes the sfc takes a 3-time run with reboots between.

    Jake,

I'm a little confused. By "same thing", then what do you mean?

And to help us to be able be sure that we don't overlook anything, if you would fluff out your system specs, that would be helpful.

Read the following carefully. There are three different programs there which will help you gather info for your specs.

    Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (3rd item in the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec
    (left-hand column)

To gather info, use SIW or Speccy or System Info

Add the word laptop or desktop or netbook to the
    “system manufacturer” block, for example,
    Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
    MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on the SAVE CHANGES button.

Apologies. I did go into my profile and added the specs as completely as possible.

By "same thing", I meant the same results as the first time running the sfc scan, in that the scan shows everything fixed and the problem still exists. I just completed running it for the third time and there is no improvement; the scan says everything is fixed and my windows disappear when trying to select them.

This is uncharted territory for me, so it's difficult to determine what's helpful without being verbose.

Please read and follow this procedure which hundreds have managed to do and to give us more than just scanty info on their system.

    karlsnooks -
    Fine. I'm done here.
    Thanks, but no thanks.
Snarky comments are for old women, not for well-mannered, courteous individuals. I will leave ya'll to your own devices and get my answers elsewhere.

Hopefully they can help you with no info. This is asked to help people. We've had all kinds of experiences and a start has to be square one.

    @Jake:

Just remember that these guys with lots of expertise and experience often get folks that want instant solutions for problems that many times have very complex origins and while I agree that folks need to start with the basics (like sys info details) sometimes these guys get a bit frustrated with the demand for instant satisfaction...give Karl and Britton another chance.
