and a list of them

Problem Signature 02: 6.1.7600.16385

Dear MacGyvr
I now try to restore to an much earlier time and maybe that will do the trick.... I'm running out of options. I am very thankful that you were so willing to help to solve my problem... I still need the files from this computer but I guess I will need to devote time now to reconstruct my files.... glad that I've got a new computer from my director after I told him that the one I'm using has problems.... so I'm having a brand new Toshiba still in the trunk of my car... which I will setup and start to recreate my files for my work. I'm doing course development and do have most all data on many flash drives, just very cumbersome to collect all these and put them back together in order.
Thanks
I will post here if I find more help and what happens. I still have one last avenue I can pursue, through out MIS department....

Hello CMD
What is a Ubuntu live CD... never heard of it.... and most all how do you do that when the screen is blank and black?
Thanks

I used a Linux boot CD my daughter had, and am moving the files right now. Afterward I will do a system restore... meaning installing windows again. I will be happy as soon as I moved all the files on a secure drive.

Thanks for your help!

update:
My computer is back and running and everything is almost good. I used a live CD to recover my data, and reinstalled Windows 7. However now I am having a new problem.... This computer's original OS was Vista and I upgraded to W7. I forgot or better little did I know, I should have installed Vista first and upgraded again to W7. This is my assumption because W7 should be activated and I am getting the message that the activation code is invalid.... I purchased a 3 license upgrade for W7 since I had 3 PC/laptops to upgrade. Unfortunately I can't find or maybe never had to begin with, a recovery CD for Vista for this Toshiba computer and I can't get a working phone number with a REAL person asking Microsoft what to do. Because I believe since my computer came with an OS and I paid for it already when purchasing my computer, I shouldn't be forced to buy another one just to have W7 upgrade working properly/.

What would happen if I ignore the activation 30 day window???? I am having my receipt and license number for the 3 W7 lisences I bought. Any suggestions??

Thank you
