    Task manager issues

I have noticed since purchasing a laptop last winter (HP Pavilion) that the Task manager doesn't work like my old computer with Windows XP. When I hit ctrl alt delete I still get the Task manager, but not the option to refresh or end the program. Just some programs and no controls. It use to allow me to end a program when it was stuck and not moving, but not now. It's mostly when AOL stops, I wait and wait, and can't end it in Task Manager, so I end up having to power down the whole computer and start again. losing any info from that point. This doesn't make sense that they would take that option away, any thoughts or hellp with this?
    Thanks!

If you see no tabs, menu bar or title bar, I'm guessing you just need to double click on the border just above the columns (or anywhere on the border enclosing the window).

An easier way to get there is to right click on the Taskbar and select Task Manager.
Click on the Processes tab then you can find and kill and rogue programs.

Click on the Image Name heading to sort by name.
Click on CPU to sort by CPU usage.
