"On Resume Display Logon Screen" Not Working!

A bit of an annoying problem here. For some reason, the "On Resume Display Logon Screen" screen saver function has stopped working. It used to work, but for some reason it has stopped working. When I step away from my computer, I want to "protect" it by requiring a password logon upon stopping of the screen saver. But even though I have this checkbox checked, IT DOESN'T WORK! I have scoured the web for a solution to this problem to no avail. I have gone into the Registry to the key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop to ensure that the ScreenSaverIsSecure key is set to a value of 1. Nothing works! When I jiggle the mouse on any screen saver it DOES NOT PROMPT ME FOR MY PASSWORD, but rather opens my computer right up. Does anyone have a clue as to how to fix this??? Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

Thanks for any and all advice!

Let put the screensaver issue aside for a second......
When you turn on the computer, does the computer bring you to the logon screen, or, does it bring you right to your desktop ?

When I first boot up the machine I get the logon screen. My user name and password work just fine there.

    Hello Technomann,

As a test, create a new user account, and see of the screen saver password works with it or not.

For now, you could lock your computer before stepping away with Windows Key + L or this Lock Computer shortcut, and have to enter a password before allowed back into the user account.

I have exactly the same problem as the OP.

Windows 7 Professional, running in this computer for a year and a half with no major changes. All users are password protected. For that year and a half the screen saver has been setup to activate after 5 minutes and to require the password.

This configuration has worked flawlessly for, like I said, a year and a half. Recently, a couple days ago, I noticed that from time to time the screen saver wouldn't engage at all, and I would find the computer with the screen visible and usable even after hours. Other times, the screen saver engages as usual. Today, for a change, the screen saver was engaged, but when I moved the mouse the desktop came back without going to the logon screen.

Of course I know that I can use Win-L to lock the screen, but I have relied (and still do, on other computers) on the screen saver password mechanism as a fail safe. Now it seems I cannot count on it?

Any help would be really appreciated.
